3, 2, 1....Blast Off

I made this card for a sweet little boy, and also to play along in this new Young Crafters Unite Challenge # 1. I still consider my self new at card making but I am ever newer at coloring stamped images, I think I have only done a handful of cards that involve coloring. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE coloring. When we go to church sometimes I am the one doing more coloring than my kids. Sometimes I feel like I do a better job listening to the speaker while coloring. Anyways, I am getting braver at adding color to my cards.

I had a lot of fun making this card and I hope the recipient loves it.  I used a  Martha Stewart Crafts glitter that is called carrara marble for the moon and ultra fine glitter for the stars, I enjoyed coloring the shuttle and fire with Prisma pencils and mineral spirits. I also added some glossy accents to the little window.

I really wanted to use the stars that came with this stamp set but the Glue Pad was not working for me. The stars looked great but the glitter was not sticking on. I could just rub my finger over the star and bye, bye went the star. So, I had to scratch that idea. Did I not let it dry long enough? Does anyone have any suggestions?  I would truly appreciate your suggestions because I would really like to make use of that glue pad. I guess this must really show what a young paper crafter I am. Hope that you can find some time to get crafty and play along in this challenge too.

  3. Great card! I love the sparkle stars. I have trouble with glue pads too, they are just too goopy it seems. I have reverted to glue pens when I want to add glitter. Either a Zing pen or Martha Stewart makes one. I have tried two different glue pads. Each one you have to apply the glue to the pad before using it, when never seems to work for me. Maybe one day I'll figure it out. Thanks for playing with us at YCU!
